Birgit Sippel has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009 and coordinator (spokesperson) of the S&D Group in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice & Home Affairs (LIBE) since 2014. She currently is the EP Rapporteur for the EU e-evidence framework (regulation & directive), the ongoing negotiations in view of an EU-US agreement on cross-border access to e-evidence and a new protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (“Budapest Convention”) as well as the ePrivacy regulation. In the past, she has been involved in a wide range of topics in the area of privacy and data protection (e.g. TFTP, PNR) as well as in the advancement of police and judicial cooperation at EU level (e.g. procedural safeguards package).
