Gaetano Lapenta currently works as an official at the Competition Division of the OECD in Paris. He drafts policy briefings and analytical reports to the OECD Competition Committee, which gathers 52 competition authorities worldwide. He focusses on competition issues in digital markets and has most recently worked on ex ante regulations for digital platforms, hub-and-spoke arrangements, the interaction between FDI screening and merger control, and competitive issues related to MaaS platforms in local transport markets. Prior to becoming a competition expert at the OECD, he worked as a lawyer in the antitrust department of Shearman & Sterling in Brussels and Rome. He holds a law degree from the University of Roma Tre and a LL.M from the College of Europe in Bruges.
