Tijmen Wisman is assistant professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam who wrote his PhD on the EU Internet of Thing (IoT) policy and the right to privacy. Tijmen teaches privacy law, data protection and internet governance. Besides his work as an academic he chairs the Platform for Civil Rights which successfully challenged the Dutch government for adopting the law instituting the System Risk Indication (SyRI). During this entire procedure he was actively involved in writing the legal argumentation and summon against SyRI. In his latest publications the focus is on legal protection and access to justice of persons vis-a-vis public authorities deploying data-driven surveillance and decision-making processes.
