Dr. Rosamunde Van Brakel is a critical interdisciplinary social scientist who works as a part-time research professor coordinating the VUB Research Chair in Surveillance Studies and as part-time postdoctoral researcher at the imec-SMIT at the VUB working on the research project SPECTRE. In addition, since 2014, she is executive director and co-founder of Privacy Salon and managing director of CPDP. Since 2019 she is co-director of the Surveillance Studies Network. Rosamunde has been doing research on (algorithmic) surveillance in the public sector since 2006. Currently she is doing research on the (history of) governance of surveillance and crime control in Belgium.
