Aimen Taimur is a PhD Researcher and Teaching Assistant at TILT. She is interested in the human rights regulation of emerging AI-based technologies particularly those which impact cognitive liberty and behavioural modelling. Her doctorate research aims to place human rights protections against the challenges posed by AI on the fundamental right to freely think and the preservation of natural mental faculties underpinning independent cognitive rationalization. Before joining TILT, Aimen was serving as a Judicial Law Clerk from 2020 - 2022 at the Supreme Court of Pakistan where she worked on developing regulatory policies for the use of tech within judiciaries. She has also worked as a Human Rights lawyer within various NGOs. Aimen holds an L.L.B. from the University of London and an L.L.M. in Human Rights Law from the Queen Mary University of London. She is also a licensed High Court Lawyer and a member of the Islamabad Bar Council, Pakistan.
