Andrés Chomczyk joined LSTS in November 2019 as a PhD student. He works in the H2020 PROTECT - “Protecting Personal Data Amidst Big Data Innovation” project under a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie ITN grant. His PhD research focuses on information and transparency issues related to identity and reputation management systems, in particular of those referred as self-sovereign identity systems. He also conducts research on issues related to the fintech industry, with a focus on data protection matters and cryptocurrencies, with several articles and book chapters published. Prior to joining LSTS, Andrés worked as an attorney in Argentina. He was a lecturer and researcher at the Centre of Studies in Technology and Society (Centro de Estudios de Tecnología y Sociedad) of the San Andrés University and a guest lecturer at the Argentine Catholic University and Torcuato Di Tella University. Besides this, he is a co-founder of the Argentine Bitcoin NGO, one the leading organization worldwide on the matter, where he served as public policy and legal affairs manager. He obtained his law degree from Austral University (Argentina) and a master degree on data protection from Santiago de Compostela University (Spain).
