Multidisciplinary Institute in Artificial Intelligence (MIAI)

France

The MIAI Cluster is an AI institute that brings together partners from both the public and private sectors, with the aim of developing AI for the benefit of humanity and the environment. Its missions include conducting fundamental and applied research in AI, training students and professionals in core AI and its applications, developing AI solutions, and raising awareness about AI, its uses, limitations, and potential risks.
The integration of AI into healthcare is revolutionizing patient care, offering unprecedented advancements while reshaping medical practices. From medical imaging and personalized treatments to predictive analytics and robotic surgery, AI presents immense opportunities. However, it also introduces risks, such as the manipulation of medical images or deepfakes, which could have severe consequences, including misdiagnosis or loss of life. This transformation raises crucial challenges, particularly regarding liability, secrecy and informed consent. This workshop seeks to explore these issues and to develop actionable recommendations for decision-makers and organisations to ensure safe, ethical and accountable integration of AI in healthcare. The workshop will address: • What mechanisms should apply to ensure liability when AI-driven healthcare decisions lead to adverse outcomes? • How can patient data privacy be safeguarded as AI systems become deeply integrated into healthcare? • What should an effective informed consent framework look like in an AI-powered healthcare ecosystem?
