Florian Wittner is a Junior Researcher and PhD candidate at the Leibniz-Institute for Media Research │ Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) in Hamburg and part of the interdisciplinary research project “Information Governance Technologies: Ethics, Policies, Architectures, Engineering”. Before, he studied law at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His PhD thesis revolves around the nature and scope of data protection controllership under the GDPR, especially in the light of the ECJ’s recent decisions regarding joint controllership. His general research interests include data protection as well as IP and IT law and the general field of Internet Governance.
