Eric Verheul is part-time professor at the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. He teaches security management and does research in cryptography focusing on privacy enhancing technology and pseudonymization. Eric is also an independent security consultant. In this role, he is the cryptographic architect of the Dutch federative eID scheme in which the Dutch eID card is the showpiece. The Dutch eID card physically takes the form of the Dutch electronic driver license and national identity card. It allows anonymous authentication through identity providers while providing service providers pseudonyms and/or personally identifiable information such as the Dutch social security number.
