Teresa Quintel is a PhD Candidate at the University of Luxembourg and Uppsala University since November 2016. She received the 2019 EDPL Young Scholars Award for her article on law enforcement access under Article 20 of the Commission proposal on the interoperability of EU databases. That article was previously awarded the 2018 APC Young Scholars Award. In her PhD thesis, Teresa addresses the applicability of EU data protection law to third country nationals, with a particular focus on Directive (EU)2016/680. Apart from her research and teaching activities, Teresa has published on various topics in the context of data protection and privacy legislation, spoke at several conferences and was one of the Council of Europe experts who assisted in drafting the Nigerian data protection legislation. Previously, she worked in the private sector in Luxembourg and Sweden.
