Javier López-Guzmán is a lawyer and independent researcher. He works as a Data Protection Legal Consultant at the firm Sopra Steria. He is a PhD candidate at Universidad de Alicante (Spain). His research covers the inter-relation between Intellectual property law and personal data protection. With a specific focus on the effective enforcement of personal data subject rights in IP protected environments. He was affiliated in the past as a PhD researcher at the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group at the Faculty of Law and Criminology in the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He has previous experience as an interim legal official at the European Commission.
