Xabier is Head of Sector "Technology Monitoring and Foresight" of the EDPS, which he joined in 2017, and member of the internal AI Task Force. He provides advice on technology developments having an impact on privacy and data protection, contributes to policy papers and takes part on EDPS supervision activities. Among the topics he focuses on: biometric data processing, artificial intelligence, anonymisation and online tracking and profiling. He graduated as a Computer Engineer and started his professional career in software development. From 2007 to 2017 he worked as Data Inspector at the Spanish Data Protection Authority.
