Taner Kuru is a PhD researcher at Tilburg University and focuses on the ethical and legal implications of AI-driven genetic research. He completed the Advanced LL.M. in Law and Digital Technologies at Leiden University with cum laude distinction as a Jean Monnet Scholarship awardee. He then received the EDPL’s “Young Scholar Award” for his article titled “Genetic Data: The Achilles’ Heel of the GDPR?”. He also interned at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Institute (UNICRI) Centre for AI and Robotics in 2020. Taner is also a certified lawyer at Ankara Bar Association and previously worked as an attorney-at-law in Turkey.
