Anja Kovacs directs the Internet Democracy Project, a not-for-profit research initiative in India that works towards realising feminist visions of the digital in the areas of norms, governance and infrastructure. Her research currently focuses on data governance and free speech - including work on bodies and dataveillance. She has worked as an international consultant on Internet issues for organisations such as UNDP Asia Pacific, and has been a Fellow at the Centre for Internet and Society in India, and a CyberBRICS Fellow at the Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. She has lectured in the UK, India and Brazil, and has a PhD from the University of East Anglia in the UK.
