David Erdos is Deputy Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law and University Senior Lecturer in Law and the Open Society at the University of Cambridge. Blending traditional doctrinal analysis and rigorous comparative empirical methodology, his work has elucidated data protection’s special purposes derogation for journalism and cognate speech and mapped out an approach "midway" between this and the default data protection scheme in areas such as online social networking and search engines indexing. It has been published in leading journals including the Common Market Law Review and the Journal of Law and Society.
