Laurence is a senior postdoctoral researcher in the ERC project Counting as a Human Being in the Era of Computational Law. His research interests focus on the cross-over of legal theory and design practice. He is the author of Digisprudence: Code as Law Rebooted (Edinburgh University Press 2022), and co-founder with Mireille Hildebrandt of the Journal of Cross-disciplinary Research in Computational Law (CRCL). He was previously a software developer and designer, and holds PhD, LLM, and LLB degrees from the University of Edinburgh, as well as postgraduate diplomas in legal practice and software development.
