Jo Pierson, Ph.D, is Full Professor of Responsible Digitalisation at Hasselt University (Hasselt, Belgium) and Professor of Media and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences & Solvay Business School at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels, Belgium). He is head of the Faculty School of Social Sciences and staff member of the research group R4D (Research for Digitalisation, Diversity & Democracy) at UHasselt. He is also affiliate of the research centre imec-SMIT (Studies on Media, Innovation and Technology) at VUB. His main research expertise is in socio-technical research of artificial intelligence, data privacy, digital platforms, edtech, public values in data-driven technologies, and user innovation.

Evrim Gormus is a Jean Monnet Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute in Florence, where she works on the politics of artificial intelligence. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at MEF University, Istanbul. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Oxford and a doctoral degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Washington. Following her PhD, Dr. Gormus held a TUBITAK Repatriation Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship and was a visiting post-doctoral fellow at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). Her academic work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of International Relations and Development, Mediterranean Politics, and the Journal of Refugee Studies.
