There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach when it comes to implementing GDPR. Rather, specific needs call for specific guidance. Looking at the two ends of the compliance spectrum, the panel will approach the data protection challenges faced by two key, yet very different communities: software engineers and microenterprises. While the former need methodologies and tools translating legal obligations imposed by the GDPR into technical requirements, the vulnerabilities of the latter require solutions to support their compliance efforts. The panel will address the following issues:
• How can technology assist microenterprises in implementing the GDPR?
• What are the challenges of developing tool support for systematically implementing GDPR principles at the software design stage?
• Is there a room for aligning the traditional software development lifecycle with methodologies for data protection impact assessment?
• What is the role of architectural viewpoints in developing a sound data protection by design approach?
