Title of the presentation
Bringing Stakeholders together for Privacy friendly ITS applications
Abstract
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) bring the promise of more safety, comfort, security, environment preservation and energy consumption reduction. However, the resulting increase in electronics and communications is raising security and privacy issues that could jeopardise deployment. The eSecurity Working Group was set up within the eSafety Forum as a discussion platform involving all stakeholders to discuss vulnerability aspects of electronics and communications in road transport while taking into account existing practice and emerging Research and Technology Development (RTD) initiatives. Two recommendations are identified concerning privacy issues: First of all agree on a privacy-by-design approach that will be endorsed by stakeholders. Secondly, put in place some longer term concertation activities that will cope with evolving privacy enhancing technologies.
