Since October 2008, Dr. Herke Kranenborg is legal officer at the office of the European Data Protection Supervisor. Before, he was Assistant-professor at the European Law department of the Law Faculty of Leiden University (NL). His research concentrated on the European dimension of on the one hand access to documents and on the other hand data protection. Together with prof. W.J.M. Voermans he wrote the book Access to Information in the European Union: A Comparative Analysis of EC and Member State Legislation (2005). About the reconciliation of rules on transparency and data protection in the EU he wrote a PhD-thesis which he defended in September 2007. An Article about this subject was published in August 2008 in the Common Market Law Review.
