Short BIO
Paul De Hert is professor of law at the Faculty of Law and Criminology of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is the Director of the research group on Fundamental Rights and Constitutionalism (FRC) and senior member of the research group on Law, Science, Technology & Society (LSTS). Paul De Hert is also associated-professor Law and Technology at the Tilburg Institute for Law and Technology (TILT)

Against multitasking: Why no wifi and (almost) no parallel sessions
Abstract
European data protection is one of the latest chambers in the house of the modern constitutional European state. It contains a terminology and a set of values that all members of the interpretive community build around data protection legislation understand and refer to. Although these members do not always agrees on practical outcomes of certain conflicts with regard to the use of personal data, they agree on the procedure to follow to solve them. CPDP has the ambition of being one of the fora created for this community.
