Short BIO

Laurent Beslay works as scientific adviser, at the European Data Protection Supervisor, Brussels since September 2004. He previously worked, for six years, in the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, the IPTS (Institute for Prospective Technological Studies) as a project officer in the field of cybersecurity. He holds a Post-master's degree in Global Management of Technological Risks and Crisis (University of Paris, la Sorbonne) and a Master's degree in International Relations.

Best Available Techniques, RTD projects, and Digital territory concept, three ingredients promoting the application of privacy by design

Abstract

An efficient implementation of the concept of privacy by design requests actions at all stages of the life cycle of a technology. The presentation will describe three important steps which have a determinant impact on its application: selection process of Best Available Techniques, accompanying measures and guidelines for RTD projects and development of new concepts.
