Abstract

The Slovenian and French presidencies have, during 2008, invested a great amount of time and efforts in the review of the Council Decision of 28 February 2002 setting up Eurojust with a view to reinforcing the fight against organised crime. This review aims at reinforcing the situation of Eurojust, harmonising the powers of the National Members as well as improving the information communication from the national authorities to Eurojust. In itself, the new Decision has clearly no intention to modify the Eurojust data protection regime, which is in itself a very positive fact. It contains however some provisions which have some impact or relevance from the data protection viewpoint, which will be explained during this presentation.
